The Homestead Grays, from just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, are perhaps the most well-known Negro League team. From the mid-1930s through the mid-1940s they won an astounding nine pennants, led by players like Buck Leonard, ''Cool Papa'' Bell, and black baseball's most powerful hitter: catcher Josh Gibson.
