Before the Braves made their way South, the Atlanta Crackers were a strong, popular franchise of the Southern League, playing at Ponce De Leon Park (across from what is now City Hall East). There was a train track running behind the outfield wall, and if a train was ahead of schedule it might make a quick stop to catch an inning or two of Crackers baseball.
